shitty weather

Well the weather outside is.....frightful! But this chap is so delightful ;)

Oh dear oh dear my little chickens! It has been a none stop rain-a-thon up here.

I had a really fabulous day on monday hunting around charity shops and made quite a few lovely finds. The plan was to lay everything out on tuesday and get some pictures but it has been like night time most of the day since then with such horrible blackclouds that I haven't been able to get any pics!

So instead I am going to show you some things I am majorly glomping over online :P starting with these oh so GORGEOUS diana mini cameras.

I wish I had some more pennies for these goodies but I am on a mission to stick with buying things from charity shops so that I can still enjoy shopping on a budget :D

happy belated easter :)

hello all! It's been a while since I last posted as I've had a wee bit of a rough patch but am working on turning that around :)

I started off by setting some time aside to do a touch of baking and made this yummy guiness cake.

It really is one of the yummiest cakes I've ever made and after a visit from the (future) brother in law and a mutual friend popped round it didn't take long to dissapear!

I also brought another beauty which was sent over from spain

It's such a pretty little plate, and after being inspired by a picture on pinterest (my latest addiction) I brought a pink candlestick and attached this to the bottom of the plate to make a cake stand :)

Tadaa!
We also went out for lunch the other day at a pub restraunt which was runner up for best pub food in the uk in 2010.
I had the days special which was lincolnshire sausages with cheesy polenta and buttery kale and Mr S had a homemade burger with homemade bread and chips in dripping.
Needless to say we'd polished off the lot before I even thought to take a picture!

It was very yummy indeed and we definately want to go try some of their other specials soon :)

a funny old week

Well it's been a funny old week this week. I've been making such a huge improvement in my mood over the past few months and this week I seem to have had my first real mood dips since november.

I keep getting frustrated with myself for not making a real start on my path to owning my own business.
I wanted to set up shop with my friend but as time has gone by it has proven very difficult to find time together and I don't believe she is as commited to the idea as I am.

I have done so much research into setting up a business and would love to own my own cafe/bakery someday.
I want to make a start making cakes to sell at cake fairs but due to my lovely doggy and kitty being moulty little buggars and the fact my kitchen is very very tired I'd never be able to get H&S certificates.
And I have no access to another kitchen so I'm not entirely sure how to go about making a start in getting pennies together and seeing if my baking is up to par!

This in turn has made me start getting down on our financial situation again. With a wedding to save up for and a lack of funds my dream seems to be moving further and further away.

I know that it all seems a little silly and who knows, maybe some of the obstacles in my way aren't real obstacles at all, but for now they are certainly hurdles which I can't see over.
I wonder if any of you have any ideas or suggestions in possibilities I can try to help me edge closer to my dream :)

my first granny squares and a special delivery

Well a couple of months ago I felt so inspired by some of the wonderful crochet items I'd seen on many of you lovely ladies blogs, and the beautiful crochet blanket I have that was given to my parents as their wedding present, that I decided I would finally learn to make granny squares and make a blanket :)
I sat myself infront of a few youtube videos and brought some chunky wool to make my attempts quickly (because I'm lazy!) and after leaving it for a while I decided to finish off the last of the wool and joined everything together to make this.

I took the picture with my phone which doesn't really do the colours justice.
I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out so far, none of the squares are perfect and some of them are a little oddly shaped and sized but I quite like it.
The only issue I have is that using chunky wool has left me short of making anything big enough to be a blanket.
The other kick was that the shop I brought my wool from had stopped selling my colours, argh!!
I've managed to find a website which sells the same wool brand but I rather stupidly threw away all of the labels so I have no idea if the colours I've ordered are the same as what I've used, but we shall wait and see :)

I also recieved me GORGEOUS hello kitty jacket this morning :D I love it so much I just can't stop looking at it!
Mr postman came along at 7.30am and I had to put it straight on (hence the tired, makeup free mush!)

I feel like a little kid with a new pair of shoes :D I just want to wear this everywhere!

my guilty secret

Today has been one of those days where I just feel a bit blue for no particular reason, so I have treated myself to a small bowl of my guilty pleasure...

chocolate fudge frosting :) it's sooo easy to make and SOOOOO yummy! I believe i've been really good by not making any cakes to eat with this ;)

I love everything about it, and the fact it's freshly made means it's still warm :D nom nom!!

a sad goodbye

Well after just one year of ownership from brand new I am having to sell my beautiful scooter :(
My parents brought me this beautiful machine after my vespa was stolen, and after customising it with the stars it became the "jazzle machine" and I became "lady jazzles" courtesey of my friend helen :P
I've had some great rides on this scooter but sadly I no longer work near a secure car park so I can't take it to work, and now we have Millie I must walk or drive in the sunshine with her ratherthan ride out on my own!
I will certainly miss the freedom of having a scooter but I know that when money is a little better I will be able to take it up again :)
